Planning a visit to Warrumbungle National Park? Discover where to stay in the Warrumbungles Range, with easy access to walking trails, activities and amenities!

Warrumbungle National Park is one of my favourite National Parks in Australia. Despite being off the beaten track for backpackers and Aussie road trips, it’s absolutely worth the trip for striking mountain landscapes and more kangaroos than anywhere else I’ve been in Aus!

Popular with walkers and hikers, Warrumbungle is perfect for a camping trip. But if you prefer more solid accommodation, the surrounding areas offer a range of motel, glamping and holiday home stays. I’ve picked out the five best places to stay in and around Warrumbungle.

Camp Blackman

If you’re looking to stay at the heart of Warrumbungle National Park with campsite amenities, Camp Blackman is for you! Waking up to incredible views in a tree-lined campsite was one of my favourite Aussie camping experiences.

The site has 119 campsites, suitable for tents, caravans, camper trailers and camper vans. Powered and unpowered sites are available. The campsite has full toilet and shower amenities, located in a modern block. It’s also the start of the beautiful Belougery Flats Walk.

Something we really liked about booking at Camp Blackman is that you can choose your site on a map. (Unfortunately, we accidentally booked a site where our 10m power cable didn’t reach the box – so bear that in mind!)

Pitches start at $24 for an unpowered site and $34 for a powered site. Booking in advance is advised as Camp Blackman can get booked up early in busy periods.

Warrumbungles Mountain Motel

The closest hotel accommodation to the centre of the National Park is the Warrumbungles Mountain Motel, a ten minute drive from the centre of Coonabarabran.

The property has standard motel rooms, and self-contained family units that sleep up to eight people. They’re nothing fancy, but offer a clean and comfortable place to stay just 20 minutes drive from the Warrumbungle National Park Visitor Centre.

The motel has a swimming pool and BBQ facilities, a children’s playground and outdoor fireplace.

Bubble Hotel

For a peaceful, magical retreat under the starry skies of the Warrumbungle Ranges, Bubble Hotel offers secluded glamping in nature.

An off-grid location on a 265-acre private property, Bubble Hotel’s capsule has transparent walls, so you can fall asleep under the stars in a comfortable bed. The property has private bathroom and kitchenette facilities, and a terrace with a fire pit, perfect for cosy evenings with mountain views.

Acacia Motor Lodge

For those looking to combine easy access to Warrumbungle National Park with the convenience of town amenities, Coonabarabran is the park’s nearest township. Hotel and motel accommodation can be found here, and Acacia Motor Lodge is a top-rated option.

The rooms at Acacia are simple and modern, with air conditioning and private bathrooms. You’ve got access to the bars and restaurants in town, but the hotel also has an on-site bar for guest use. Some rooms offer balconies, and all guests have access to the outdoor pool – ideal for a dip on a hot summer’s day.

Echidna Ridge by Tiny Away

Balancing four walls with the serenity of nature, Echidna Ridge is a tiny home in the forest with easy access to Coonabarabran and Warrumbungle National Park.

Don’t let the fact it’s a ‘tiny home’ put you off – in all honesty, I’ve stayed in hotel rooms smaller than this! The space is perfectly laid out to provide everything you need for a cosy, relaxing night; with outdoor seating for some night time stargazing.

The self-contained, private accommodation has a bathroom with toilet and shower, plus kitchenette facilities including a fridge, microwave, stovetop, toaster and kettle. Large windows (with pull down blinds) help you feel truly immersed in your surroundings as you listen to the sound of birds and woodland critters coming alive from dusk to dawn.
