THE Ramen Burger to Try in London: Pimp My Ramen
The burger scene in London is well and truly thriving. It’s not hard to find a burger within a few minutes’ walk of basically anywhere; and equally pretty easy to find a *decent* burger these days. There are festivals dedicated to the burger, Instagram accounts filled with patty porn…burgers are, quite frankly, everywhere. Good job I like them, eh?
In the burger world, quality is the name of the game – and although some of my favourite spots (Hache, Honest Burgers, Yen Burger, to name a few) are playing around with innovative toppings, few are completely turning the burger concept on its head for something new.
Apart from Pimp My Ramen, at least. This Greenwich Market food stand is updating what makes a burger a burger by substituting the buns – for, you guessed it, ramen patties.

Considering how busy the market was, and that it was a Sunday afternoon, I was happy to find the queue for Pimp My Ramen to be barely non-existent. The burgers are served up pretty quickly, put together right in front of your eyes, so we knew it was going to be a super fresh lunch.

Indian Veggie Ramen Burger

There are four ramen burger varieties on offer, all served with salad, cheese and egg (if available), plus hot sauce (optional):
- Classic Beef Ramen Burger (£6)
- Filipino Pulled Pork Ramen Burger (£6)
- Indian Vegetarian Ramen Burger (£6)
- Monster Burger – beef and pulled pork (£8)
Being pretty much flexitarian/mostly veggie these days, I chose to try the Indian Vegetarian Ramen Burger, a lentil spiced patty that worked really well with the noodle bun.

Speaking of the bun, does ramen REALLY work on a burger? The answer is – yes, definitely! The noodle patty was soft, with just enough strength to hold the sandwich together.
My dining partner chose the Monster Burger, which, for the sake of reviewing, I did have a little taste of. I was *really* impressed with this one – the juice from the beef and pulled pork combined with the spicy sauce and soaked into the ramen ‘bun’ to give the noodles plenty of taste.

The burgers didn’t look the biggest when we first got them, but compared to the usual price of London street food, it’s fair to say you definitely get a decent amount of eats for your spends. Plus, the burgers were actually very filling, and I was pretty stuffed after finishing mine.
If you’re spending a day in Greenwich, the Market should definitely be on your to-do list – and Pimp My Ramen is the perfect way to fuel an afternoon of exploring…
