Hotel Review: PinkCoco Uluwatu, Bali

PinkCoco Uluwatu

If ‘all-pink-everything Barbie Dream House’ is your vibe, PinkCoco Uluwatu is your essential Bali hotel!

Okay. I don’t want to be overdramatic here, friends. BUT. PinkCoco Uluwatu is probably my favourite hotel I’ve EVER stayed in.

As you can probably tell by my hair (but never my wardrobe), I have a soft spot for the colour pink. Hot pink, baby pink, millenial pink and everything in between. I found PinkCoco Uluwatu on an Uluwatu travel guide, and I’ve never hit ‘book’ on any accommodation so quickly.

(Luckily, my boyfriend’s a pink kinda guy too!)

To find out if PinkCoco Uluwatu is your perfect boutique Uluwatu hotel, read on to hear what we thought!

PinkCoco Uluwatu – Key Information

Location: Padang Padang, Uluwatu
Star Rating: ***
Rooms: 31
Room Types: Pink Cocoon, Grande Garden View, Grande Pool View, Horizon, Penthouse, Intimate Space
Family stays? No – this is strictly an 18+ adults only hotel.
Accessibility: The entrance to the hotel has a small flight of steps, and most areas of the hotel have uneven ground and steps to access.
Stay here for: A fun, relaxed and colourful stay, filled with cute surprises and vibrant artistic decor.

Location

PinkCoco is in the Padang Padang area of Uluwatu, just five minutes’ walk from the well-known Padang Padang beach. (We loved the hotel so much we didn’t even make it to the beach, mind you…).

It’s around 45mins-1hr drive from I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport (heavily traffic dependant). Public transport is pretty nonexistent in Bali, so the best usual to get there is by taking a taxi. You could also hire a scooter if you’re travelling light and have experience riding.

The hotel has everything you need including a restaurant and spa, but there are plenty of bars and shops in the surrounding area if you fancy heading out and exploring. The hotel is also a 10 minute taxi/scooter ride from Uluwatu Temple, one of the most iconic places to visit in Bali.

Rooms at PinkCoco Uluwatu

PinkCoco Uluwatu has 31 rooms in a variety of sizes/areas of the hotel:

Cocoon Patio: The smallest and most budget-friendly option, with full access to facilities.
Grande Garden View: Larger ground floor rooms, with a patio and outdoor day beds.
Grande Pool View: Ground floor rooms beside the pool, with a private daybed style seating area by the front door.
Horizon: First floor rooms with private balcony and panoramic views.
Penthouse: Large top floor room, with open bathroom and a large private roof terrace.
Intimate Space: A romantic, private suite with open air stone bathtub and additional inclusions for a romantic escape.

All rooms have AC, ceiling fan, hot water, safe deposit box, coffee and tea facilities, minibar and an indoor day bed.

We booked the Grande Pool View room, mostly because we loved the idea of a private daybed right next to the pool. The covered area outside the room was a lovely shaded spot to escape the blistering midday sun, and we were just steps away from jumping into the pool to cool off.

The room itself is spacious, with a huge bed and plenty of space for suitcases and personal belongings. The bathroom was another highlight, with a netted open air window and waterfall shower bringing the Bali jungle feel to central Ubud.

And, of course, everything is SUPER pink.

Hotel Facilities

PinkCoco Uluwatu had everything we needed for a real relaxing stay. There are three pools (two for swimming, one a sitting/bathing style pool), plus plenty of outside loungers if you don’t have the Grande Pool View Daybed. With a full bar and restaurant, food and drink is sorted – plus the hotel has direct access to third party spa.

The team can help with booking experiences and additional activities. If you’re looking for the total Bali experience, you can book a floating breakfast in the pool. It’s not really our style, but we saw another couple doing it and the breakfast looked super fun (and very Instagram-worthy). Only one room per day gets the opportunity, so book up early if it’s a must-do for you.

Esthetic Salon

Bali is a popular spot for spa and salon treatments, due to prices being significantly lower than they would be in the home countries of Western visitors. While PinkCoco doesn’t have it’s own spa, it’s parntered with a third party salon, Esthetic.

I didn’t realise that PinkCoco is actually connected to the spa, and ended up walking along the road and round a back path, jumping at rustling chickens in the bushes. (I think they were chickens. I hope they weren’t rats.)

I treated my sun-ravaged hair to a Moroccan Silk hair treatment; and my travel weary body to a full massage. Both were of great quality, and I returned (via the hotel side, this time) feeling really refreshed and pampered.

Restaurant

PinkCoco Uluwatu has its own Italian restarurant, Al Bacio, which is also open to non-hotel-guests. Food and drinks are served here all day, in an airy dining space with serious beach bar vibes.

We were pretty hungry when we arrived, so I tried their bruschetta which was the perfect afternoon snack, with juicy tomatoes and sharp balsamic. Other dishes available for lunch and dinner include pasta and sourdough pizza.

Breakfast was included with our booking, so we obviously took advantage of this on both mornings of our stay. The hotel guest package includes one main, plus unlimited extras OR one bakery item. On my first day I had the Shakshouka, and the second day I chose the Avocado Dream Bruschetta. Both were excellent – fresh and vibrant – and I also LOVED the rich chocolate brownie from the bakery section.

Drinks can also be ordered from the bar here, offering beers, wines and cocktails. They’ll usually offer to bring them directly to your room or lounger, and you can even order via WhatsApp.

(also, the little touches like the kiss print glasses? Super cute.)

Service

I had to dedicate a whole section to the service, because it’s what really made our stay extra-special. We’d have been happy enough with the room as it was, but it’s the attention to detail and extra surprises that set PinkCoco Uluwatu apart from the rest.

Putting aside my eye-rolls at the fact the guest team are referred to as ‘influencer managers’, the team working here are absolute superstars. Friendly, upbeat and welcoming, they made us feel like VIPs at every turn. Benjamin was the ultimate vibe, bringing complementary snacks, drinks and ice cream to guests all afternoon long.

What really elevates the PinkCoco experience is the attention to the small details (and some sweet surprises!). The rooms are cleaned daily, and the team leave cute little gifts in the room. Throughout our stay I felt really well looked after.

What’s nearby?

Honestly? We barely left the hotel, save for a trip to Uluwatu Temple. This was the ‘relaxing downtime’ bit of the trip, and PinkCoco was the perfect spot for it.

We did have a couple of meals in the local area, including Disco Pizza – fantastic pizza in a really fun space. We also made good use of the mini mart nearby to grab some beers for our hotel room (once a budget traveller, always a budget traveller.)

If you’re spending a bit longer in Uluwatu and want to dig into the local area a bit more, here are some things to do nearby:

  • The hotel is a short drive from Uluwatu Temple, one of Bali’s most famous temple complexes – complete with sweeping ocean views and a rabble of cheeky monkeys. I’d highly recommend booking tickets for the Kecak Fire Dance show, where the traditional performance takes place against the backdrop of a blazing Bali sunset.
  • Uluwatu is a surfer’s paradise – if you’ve never jumped on a board before, you can book an introductory surf lesson!
  • If you fancy getting a bit creative, join a silver jewellery making class in Uluwatu to create a unique, wearable souvenir.

Final thoughts

PinkCoco Uluwatu is a gorgeous, vibrant place to stay in the heart of Uluwatu. It may be a three star hotel, but the attention to detail in the design and guest experience makes you feel like a five star guest.

It’s not a party hotel or a hostel – the vibe really mixes upbeat energy with a relaxed, laid-back experience. PinkCoco feels like a truly welcoming and inclusive space – their FAQs specifically reference LGBTQ+ guests, alongside guests being accepting and respecting of all kinds of lifestyles.

You can book via the usual sites, which I’ve linked below. If you book direct, you get some extra perks like 10% discount on food, 20% discount on spa treatment, and the potential of a free upgrade (subject to availability).
