Review | The Vegan Plant Burger At Honest Burgers
My restaurant wish for 2022? No more serving up boring, mushy vegetable patties, and actually having decent veggie and vegan burger options on the regular menu…
Thankfully, plenty of burger restaurants are seriously upping their game, to the point where there are tons of options for vegetarians, vegans or simply those who want an alternative to traditional meat burgers.
Honest Burgers has always been a favourite of mine before I switched to a vegetarian diet, with delicious top-quality ingredients and reliably enjoyable burgers. With 31 restaurants in London and across the country since they launched just over 10 years ago, I’m obviously not the only one who agrees…

Getting straight to the point – the Honest Burgers Plant Burger is one of the best plant based burgers I’ve had in a non-vegan restaurant. It’s a Beyond Meat (what else?) patty, served with vegan smoked Gouda, Rubies in the Rubble chipotle mayo, mustard, red onion, pickles and lettuce, in a brioche bun.
The texture is genuinely really similar to a regular beef burger, tender and juicy. Unlike some meagre-portioned options in other restaurants, it weighs up in size to the rest of the menu too, so you won’t feel short changed. The sauce sorta has a Big Mac vibe, and there’s LOADS of it. Yep, this is a messy boi.
All burgers come with Honest’s rosemary salted fries, which have always been an absolute favourite to me. The rosemary salt really brings the fries to life, and the best part? Loads of those little crispy bits that are literally the best thing in the actual world.
The Honest Burgers Plant Burger is £13.75, and comes with fries included in the price (which are £3.50 solo, so you’re technically paying £10.25 for the burger itself – which really isn’t bad for a restaurant burger, especially one this good!). If you fancy something a bit extra, there’s a Teriyaki Plant version (£14.75) that comes with shiitake mushrooms, Applewood vegan cheese, grilled peppers, spring onions, umami mayo and lettuce.
