Natio Gentle Foaming Facial Cleanser, £6.80 (100g), LookFantastic* (sample size pictured)
This cleanser was in a complimentary Birchbox I received a while back, but I hadn’t got around to using it until recently. As a gentle, soap-free cleanser with a neutral pH, its aimed to cleanse impurities without stripping away skin’s moisture. It contains jojoba oil and shea butter for gentle hydration, sandalwood and lemon to purify and canduela heals and rosewood to maintain moisture levels.
One of the first things I liked about it was the scent – it has a light, herbal smell to it, not at all overpowering. Although it states it’s a ‘foaming’ cleanser, I definitely wouldn’t say what was produced was particularly foamy, if at all. Instead, rubbing it between damp hands creates much more of a lather than a foam, the kind of consistency you’d get with soap. However – this is soap free, so has none of the harshness! I actually really liked the consistency, and you don’t have to use much at all.
I have very much combination skin, and get dryness on my cheeks and forehead. I can definitely notice a bit of a difference in my skin after using this – instead of feeling slightly scrubbed, which I sometimes get with hot cloth cleansers I’ve used in the past, my face felt moisturised and calm before I even put moisturiser on it. Since I’ve been using it, I haven’t had any breakouts, and I do feel like its gentle formula has definitely done my skin some good.
I’d definitely say that if you’re wearing make-up, use a make-up removing product first (I use my DHC cleansing oil), as this is a cleanser in the true sense of the word – intended to cleanse the face of impurities rather than remove your make-up. It’s definitely working well for me, the moisturising element and gentleness is helping my skin feel less dry/dehydrated. The price is pretty decent too, making it a great mid-range product for those who want a simple, gentle cleanser that keeps skin feeling and looking healthy and fresh.
