OPI are no strangers to celeb collaborations, and have previously worked with superstars such as Katy Perry and Justin Bieber (although I’m not sure he’s a regular wearer of his collection!!). The latest addition to their roster is Nicki Minaj, whose music, attitude and individual style set her apart in the mainstream music world, and her new polish range from OPI perfectly channels pop’s feistiest female. The mini-collection features six different shades, unfortunately I couldn’t afford to get them all. The two I’ve picked up are ‘Save Me’, a silver glitter with coloured bar glitter, and ‘Metallic 4 Life’, a black base with different sized silver glitter pieces. I do like a bit of sparkle!
I usually make a lot of mess applying glitter polish, but these went on pretty easily, although at times the ‘Save Me’ bar glitter tended to stick to one bit of the nail, and both needed two or three coats to get the full effect of the polish. I’ve had dodgy glitter
polishes in the past, but these are packed with sparkly particles. Once applied, the effect is fantastic – the light just
bounces off them and makes them incredibly eye-catching (my camera does no justice!). If you like your polish with a glass-like finish, you’ll need a couple of layers of good top coat as the glitter makes the nails pretty uneven – but for the amount of sparkle, that’s not too surprising! Overall, I really like both, although ‘Save Me’ is definitely my favourite, and one I can see myself wearing a lot!
The other colours in the range are Pink Friday (a candyfloss pink), Did It On ‘Em (flouro green), Fly (teal blue) and Superbass Shatter (a purple crackle polish – which I really want!), all £11 from HQHair.com. You can also get a 4 pack of minis (Did It On ‘Em, Pink Friday, Fly and Metallic 4 Life) if you want to give them all a go!
