Grab a Grammy!

As many of you may well know, last night was Grammys night! Unfortunately, I didn’t get the chance to watch the whole thing, but I’ve been reading up on the event, looking at pictures and watching performances and it looked like a fabulous night. The only thing that irks me slightly about the Grammy Awards is usually only a small handful of artists get a look in – I’d love to see more artists picking up awards instead of the same ones winning everything in their category. What are your views on this?

Our own Brit queen Adele picked up a massive six awards, including Album of the Year for ’21’, Record of the Year and Song of the Year, both for ‘Rolling in the Deep’. A much better song than excessively hyped weepie ‘Someone Like You’ – but as much as it’s a good tune, did it really need to win BOTH?!. I’ve always sat on the fence a bit when it comes to Adele. I can’t deny she has a fantastic voice, but I’ve always found her annoyingly over-hyped for my tests, although that’s through no fault of her own. The one thing I really like about her is her refreshing ‘normality’, despite being on a level with some of the greats when it comes to critical acclaim and success, I wouldn’t be surprised to bump into her drinking a pint in a London pub, cackling at a sweary joke. It’s good to see her back on top form after her throat surgery, and she looked incredible in her simple yet elegant black dress and Hollywood hair.

And now on to the fashion-y bit – who wore what?!

Glee’s Naya Rivera looked amazing in this interesting shaped dress and her minimal accessorizing with one simple silver ring allowed the outfit to take centre stage.

Taylor Swift hit the nail on the head working the metallic trend with this gold embellished gown to pick up her awards for Best Country Solo Performance and Best Country song.

The always elegant Kate Beckinsale shunned the often-done ball gown for a short but still classy Grecian-inspired number.

And finally, I’ll leave you with the star threatening Gaga’s throne as music’s biggest fashion mentalist at the moment. Never one to make an understated entrance, Miss Minaj rocked up in a red Versace dress closely resembling a nun’s habit, with none other than the Pope (not the actual one, though!) on her arm!

I like Adele in interviews, I think she's really funny and has a good voice and all that, but I'm not THAT keen on her songs. Good on her for winning all those awards but surely other people were just as worthy!

Nikki Minaj seems crazy and out-of-place in that outfit. Not a good look for her.

    Naya Rivera looks beautiful!

I'm so glad that Adele won her many Grammy awards but i do agree that the nominees and winners are slightly restricted as it's often the same people. What 'irked' me (great word by the way) this year was the fact that i saw Rebecca Black on the Red Carpet…seriously?! Hahaha, great post though – i love Naya Rivera's look 🙂

These were some of the better dressed ladies of that night. There were some HORRIBLE dresses I saw! I like Adele, but only like a few songs, that aren't really played on the radio. I'm glad it's actual talent winning though, instead of Justin Bieber. GAG. I do wish Bruno Mars would have won something, though. He's super talented as well. In fact, that song he performed, I loved before the show & it was great to see him do it live. (Well, you know what I mean. I wasn't there.) I wish some of the rock nominees were more rock. The only one that was, was the one that won. The Foo Fighters. And what about Florence + the Machine? Her new album is uhh-mazing! Ok. Sorry about that book there. I just really love music! =)
